A Welcoming Christian Fellowship That Values Diversity
Southfield Presbyterian Church

SOUTHFIELD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH - A GOOD PLACE TO SHARE, GIVE, GROW, LOVE, & PRAISE GOD!

Dear Friends:

Welcome to our website!

We had a wonderful Vacation Bible School - in the Rainforest!  We shared, we gave, we grew, we loved, we praised!  Our next community event is on Sept. 7 when we'll have our 5th annual Community Picnic from 1-4 pm on the east lawn beside the church.  Good food, good conversation, and activities to keep the young-un's happy.  Our gift to the community.  Y'all come!

We are also starting a Single Moms' support group - 1st & 3rd Saturdays from 10 am to noon.  A special topic for learning and discussion each month, sharing tips & ideas, and supporting one another in one of life's most stressful jobs!  September's topic is communication with your child's school.  Our guest on Sept. 6 will  be Dr. Lasenia Jones, former elementary school prinicpal & parent advocate!  Every single mom is welcome.

Peace, mercy, and grace from the One Who Loves You Best,

Dr. A

We are a welcoming Christian fellowship that values diversity.  This includes a diversity of political viewpoints (though we lean towards liberality), and a diversity of races and cultural backgrounds (we have members with roots in Cambodia, Nigeria, Jamaica, Cameroon (& Cameroun), and Scotland, as well as other European-Americans and African-Americans).  We also have persons with a diversity of ages and sexual orientations.  We enjoy the mix and the resulting educational opportunities.

Our vision is to be a multicultural community of faith, called by God, led by Jesus, and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

We celebrate the richness of our community!

We have committed ourselves to being a prayer site, where others can find support. To that end, we are praying for those suffering due to weather conditions in August.

Worship is every Sunday at 10 am.   Sunday School for youth is offered following the Youth Message part of worship each week.  Nursery care is available for children.  We have a multi-cultural membership, building on our European-American roots that go back 158 years.

We have been approved for a Transformational grant for our congregation. Our vision is that God is calling us to be even more multi-cultural, celebrating the variety of cultural backgrounds of our members and our world.  We think this is a foretaste of heaven!  In fact, we have a new vision statement:  "Our vision is to be a multicultural faith community called by God, led by Jesus, and empowered by the Holy Spirit."

We pray for everyone who accesses us here, that you may find peace, mercy, and grace in our Lord, Jesus Christ. Come visit.  We are praying for you to do so.  Amen.

Dr. Ellen Acton, Pastor (Dr. A)
